Concept and Product Idea: Alien Keychain

This time, I created a keychain inspired by an alien motif. I developed the idea based on a space-related theme and wanted to turn it into a practical item that can be used in everyday life. Therefore, I made an alien keychain as a product that is visually friendly while allowing users to feel a sense of space in their daily routine.

Regarding the material, I used aluminum and produced one prototype for this project. A blue anodized surface treatment was applied to make the product look more “alien-like” visually.

    Design Process with Fusion 360

During the design process, I used Fusion 360. Although I had previously learned the basic operations through tutorials and experienced simple technical drawing methods together with Mr. Hào, I realized that actually thinking of the shape and creating the product by myself required a lot of effort and concentration. I tried my best to complete as much as possible on my own.

Throughout the process, I had to redo the design several times. For the parts that did not go well, I continuously made adjustments, went through trial and error, and thought about the causes of the failures. Whenever I did not understand something, I discussed it with Mr. Hào. In particular, this time I focused on creating a design that could clearly convey the “alien-like” characteristics, so I carefully considered the overall balance of the shape. At the same time, I actively applied the knowledge and techniques that Mr. Hào had taught me.

In addition, this time I was also guided to create the layout drawing (manufacturing drawing) by myself. There were quite many notation rules that I needed to remember, so at first I found it a bit difficult. However, thanks to the careful guidance, I was able to continue the process. I once again realized that this is a very important step, because if the drawing is not annotated correctly, it may lead to defective (NG) products.

Sharing from Mr. Tấn Minh –  Yumoto's engineer who machined this product

During the machining process, several points need to be considered to ensure product quality.
When creating the program, it is important to carefully check the tool movement and machining toolpaths.
In addition, when fixing the workpiece, the contact surface must be properly cleaned to prevent the workpiece from shifting or flying off during machining.
Before machining, the surface of the material should also be checked for scratches. In particular, when machining corners with small-diameter tools, the work must be carried out very carefully.
Furthermore, when removing the product after machining, it is important to handle it gently to avoid scratches or dents.
