Characteristics of ABS Engineering Plastic and Yumoto Vietnam’s CNC Machining Technology

Date Submitted: March 9, 2026

ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene) is one of the most commonly used engineering plastics. It is easy to machine and has excellent electrical insulation properties, as it does not conduct electricity.

ABS is also lightweight—about half the weight of aluminum—making it suitable for parts where weight reduction is important. However, when machining thin plates, there is a risk of warping or deformation. On the other hand, ABS can be bonded with adhesives, allowing flexible processing depending on the application.

Because of these characteristics, ABS is widely used for electrical insulating covers, lightweight components, and other applications where its properties are advantageous. In terms of material procurement, stable supply in Vietnam can sometimes be difficult, and in some cases the material needs to be sourced from Japan.

At Yumoto Vietnam, we leverage our extensive machining experience and on-site expertise to minimize deformation during processing and to provide detailed adjustments and proposals tailored to each customer’s requirements.

If you are considering ABS machining, please feel free to contact Yumoto Vietnam.

With our proven technology and experience, we will do our best to meet your expectations.
